Pleeeeeeaaaaase don't take away my big yellow tractor! I see the windows boarded up and a developer sign (DJ something-something) on the wall outside and I don't know what your plans are but I sure hope they involve keeping that structure intact and leaving the tractor on the roof. Whether it be condos, or retail space you decide to fill into those brick walls you can thank me later for convincing you to keep some nostalgic character on the roof.

Sincerely,
Tony Spencer

Hi Tony,

The building is being renovated to make room for Lulu.com. Some information here:
http://goodnightraleigh.com/2008/05/abandoned-section-of-stanhope-avenue.html and here: http://goodnightraleigh.com/2007/09/bulldozer-building.html

I work for Lulu, and I can tell you the owner is doing everything possible to preserve the integrity of the building and that includes saving the tractor.

There are things like permits and regulations that may necessitate removing it, but I can assure you if this happens it isn't because of aesthetic reasons but because of red tape.

Oh thats great news to hear that LuLu will be making good use of the building. I guess Cup a Joe will have to add a second story. :)

What do you do for LuLu.com John?
